Facebook “Likes” to Translate into $25,000 for Deserving Ontarians
For Immediate Release:
November 11, 2010
TORONTO, ON: Grade Learning, Ontario’s largest full-service education provider, introduces the Grade Futures Scholarship Fund: $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to five deserving Ontarians who demonstrate a strong desire to learn and succeed. A program like no other, Grade Futures’ scholarship distribution will be powered by Facebook “likes”, allowing social media users the chance to give the gift of education with the click of a mouse.
Grade Learning will donate $10 to the Grade Futures Scholarship Fund each time someone “likes” the Grade Learning Facebook page, found at www.facebook.com/gradelearning. Each time “likes” increase by 500, a $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who meets judging criteria.
“Providing a scholarship to a deserving individual while giving our fans the chance to contribute to the future of that individual allows our social network and our students to connect on an unforeseen level,” said Michael Bateman, President and CEO, Grade Learning. “Grade Futures will allow those looking to improve their education or employability the chance to do so without restriction.”
The simple application process involves a form and the submission of short essays and is open to Ontario residents who are 18 and older. Check out Grade Learning’s Facebook page for details.
“Currently our page is at 229 “likes” and it’s only a matter of time before the first scholarship and the gift of a promising future is awarded,” said Margaret Prophet, Director of Education. “We hope to increase Facebook participation and award scholarships quickly, so suggest the Grade Learning page to your friends and share with them this feel-good gift.”
