TORONTO, ON: The most recent stop on Paul Rosen’s speaking tour was at Martingrove Collegiate Institute in Etobicoke. There, Paul spoke to close to 1000 high school students about his life long struggle with literacy. From his triumph as a paralympic athelete to his final confrontation with low level literacy, Paul demonstrated that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and never give up.
With his ultimate achievement – improving his ability to read and write- Paul reinforced the importance of education. Through anecdotes and personal reflection, Paul described how with the help from his instructor he was able to make remarkable improvements in his reading, writing, spelling and use of computers. Now, Paul is able to undertake tasks that before seemed out of reach such as reading a novel or writing well written notes.
After his engaging talk, students got a chance to ask questions that helped them better understand the struggles that Paul overcame and his motivation to continue against all odds. Finally, there was a meet and greet autograph session which was in high demand from the student body.
