Book Drive Funds International Literacy Program
TORONTO, ON: Grade Learning, Ontario’s largest full-service education provider announces the first ever Grade Book Drive which helps support the literacy efforts of Better World Books (BWB) – a for-profit social enterprise that collects books and sells them online to fund literacy initiatives worldwide. To date, BWB has sold 53 million books and generated over $9 million in funding.

Paralympic Sledge Hockey at 40 and Back to School at 50
TORONTO, ON: Paralympic Sledge Hockey Gold Medalist, Paul Rosen, is hitting the road to let the public know what it’s like to go back to school at 50. The three-time Paralympian, who has struggled with literacy for his entire life, recently went back to school at Grade Learning, Ontario’s largest full-service education provider. The goal: improving his elementary school level reading and writing. Today, just four months after starting class, Paul now reads at a high school level as he advanced four grade levels in his reading vocabulary and two grade levels in spelling.

College Student Literacy Needs Should Be Prioritized: Study
TORONTO, ON: A recent study released by the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO) shows that nearly 40 per cent of Ontario colleges have no programs in place to assess student literacy and that many students risk not completing their programs due to language deficits. Grade Learning, Ontario’s largest full-service education provider, takes pride in its assessment and literacy programs and supports the recommendations made by the HEQCO’s study.

Grade Learning Announces Grade Futures Scholarship Fund
TORONTO, ON: Grade Learning, Ontario’s largest full-service education provider, introduces the Grade Futures Scholarship Fund: $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to five deserving Ontarians who demonstrate a strong desire to learn and succeed. A program like no other, Grade Futures’ scholarship distribution will be powered by Facebook “likes”, allowing social media users the chance to give the gift of education with the click of a mouse.

Paul Rosen Goes for the Grade
TORONTO, ON: Determination and courage define Olympians and Paralympians; the same attributes characterize an adult who, after decades out of the school system, has decided to embark on an educational journey. Paul Rosen – 50, retired three-time Canadian Paralympian, Sledge Hockey Gold Medalist, motivational speaker and recent recipient of the prestigious March of Dimes Rick Hansen Award of Excellence – reads and writes at an elementary level and is on the path to change that.
